Readers of Conde Nast magazine have picked Savannah in a tie with Edinburgh, Scotland, as the 16th friendliest city in the world in the publication’s latest Readers Choice awards.

About Savannah, the magazine wrote:

“The oldest city in Georgia, Savannah combines a “very friendly atmosphere” with “lovely places to stay and eat” and “lots of museums that beg to be explored.” Its “warm” local vibe spurred one visitor to rave, “If you want to feel like you are returning home after being away for some time, this is the city to visit.” Simply put, “you can’t have a bad time in Savannah.”

About Edinburgh, they wrote:

“Extremely friendly locals” abound in Edinburgh, enhancing visitor experiences in a city that is “dripping with history.” “Kind, helpful and welcoming people” make for excellent guides for “well-done and informative” walking tours. “It is a wonderful city—even bus drivers go out of their way to help you get on the right bus.” A “safe,” “enchanting” town with a “cool vibe,” Edinburgh has visitors exclaiming that it “should not be missed.”

The friendliest city in the world? Florianopolis, Brazil.

“Nicknamed the “Island of Magic,” southern Brazil’s Florianópolis offers both “gorgeous” views and “nice people,” Conde Nast reported.

Charleston, S.C., ranked number five.
