Organizers behind Savannah’s Fashion Night, an outdoor celebration of the local fashion scene, have announced they are postponing this year’s event.
In a press release sent Thursday, organizers said they want to solicit more investors “in hopes of creating a larger and more supported event.” Last year’s main sponsors included Ben Carter Enterprises and the Savannah Downtown Business Association.
Savannah’s Fashion Night celebrated its fourth year on Sept. 4 last year along Broughton Street, where the street is closed to traffic for one evening. Shoppers browsed more than 30 retailers and enjoyed local bands, a fashion show and VIP perks.
The local event grew out of a larger campaign called Fashion’s Night Out launched by Vogue in 2009 that eventually fizzled out in 2013.
Organizers said last year’s event attracted roughly 5,000 people. Plans for Savannah’s Fashion Night will be announced later in 2015.
Savannah’s Fashion Night also announced a donation of $2,500 to Art Rise Savannah, a nonprofit that created an open-air gallery during last year’s festivities.
