Trade and investment partnership program scheduled

On Wednesday, May 27, from 10:30 a.m. to noon, World Trade Center Savannah will host a discussion with Rosalind Campion, Counsellor for Global Issues at the British Embassy in Washington D.C.

The discussion will focus on the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) and how it can help jobs and economic growth for the Savannah region. Fort Pulaski entrance fees going up

Fort Pulaski National Monument will raise its entrance fee on June 15 from $5 to $7 and the full Fort Pulaski Annual Park Pass from $10 to $30.

Officials say the increase will permit the park to move forward with plans outlined in its new business plan developed last summer

A news release indicated Fort Pulaski National Monument sought public comment for the increase proposed entrance fee in the fall of 2015 and public feedback was largely supportive.

Entrance fees are not charged to anyone under 16 or to holders of the America the Beautiful National Parks and Federal Recreation Annual, Senior, Access, or Military Passes. Commercial tours and buses will now pay per person rather than by capacity.

Fort Pulaski National Monument is a strong economic engine for the surrounding area. In 2014, a National Park Service report showed that 387, 000 visitors spent $23.9 million in communities near the park. That spending supported 351 jobs in the local area.
