Queensborough National Bank and Trust Co. announced Monday it has acquired two branches of CertusBank NA, one at 7393 Hodgson Memorial Drive and one at 597 S. Columbia Ave. in Rincon.
“These new locations will complement our current Savannah office on U.S. 80 and expand our opportunity to serve more customers in the area,” said Michael English, senior vice president, Queensborough National Bank and Trust. “These locations share Queensborough’s commitment to customer service in their respective communities. We are excited to welcome the employees and customers from these branches into the Queensborough family.”
Len Davenport, recently named Certus president and CEO said the bank, in deciding to sell the branches, felt a commitment to its customers to provide a bank and a customer service culture where they would feel comfortable.
“Queensborough meets all of the criteria, and we are confident that our customers will find this to be a great fit,” Davenport said.
Bill Easterlin, Queensborough’s president and CEO, said leadership and banking personnel will remain in place and continue operations at the two newly acquired branches.
The acquisition is subject to approval by all of the involved regulatory authorities. “Certus customers will retain complete access to their money and the financial strength of Queensborough Bank stands behind all acquired deposits,” Easterlin said.
“We have been looking for the right opportunity to expand in the region for some time, and Certus commercial and consumer businesses match well with our own, particularly in retail and corporate banking, and wealth management.
“Our efforts to grow in the region will be balanced by our deep commitment to employees, customers and the communities we serve.”
Certus customers who have questions about the transaction can call their current bank location or contact Mike English in the Queensborough Savannah office at 912-303-9080.
