Lunch to feature information for small businesses
The May Small Business Council SMART Lunch — Small Business Resources Part I will be held on Tuesday, May 7, with networking at 11:30 and the program from noon-1 p.m. at the Savannah Morning News Auditorium, 1375 Chatham Parkway.
The series, sponsored by Comcast, will discuss what resources are available for existing small businesses.
Marjorie Young, president of SCORE and owner of Carriage Trade Public Relations Inc., and Tony O’Reilly, president of the Small Business Assistance Corporation, will share expertise and answer questions.

City wants proposals for cultural services
The city of Savannah’s Cultural Affairs Commission has issued a “call for proposals” for the 2014 Contracts for Cultural Services Initiative. In 2014, funding will be available in two program categories: cultural programs and cultural tourism. Each category has specific funding criteria.
To be eligible for consideration, an organization must have a nonprofit 501(c) 3 status and be headquartered within the city of Savannah. Proposed programs must take place during the 2014 calendar year.
Submitted proposals will be reviewed by the Cultural Affairs Commission, whose recommendations will be sent to the city manager and on to the mayor and City Council for final funding approval.
