Investment firm donates computers
Minis & Co. Inc. has donated eight recycled computers to Urban Hope, a ministry at 1601 Barnard St. devoted to changing the lives of children and youth.
“Minis & Co. is proud to donate computers to a very worthwhile nonprofit, Urban Hope,” said Felton Jenkins, the firm’s senior vice president and portfolio manager. “It is great to see the computers go to good use in the community, especially for the benefit of young people.”
All of Urban Hope’s programs are free of charge to the participants, and there are no religious, racial or financial requirements.
“The Urban Hope children will be able to thrive in their homework assignments with the help of these computers, as well as stay up to date on new technology and techniques,” said Cassie Beckwith, Urban Hope board member.
The computers will be used on a daily basis by the Urban Hope children during the after school and summer programs.
McDonald’s of Savannah will give away car
On Wednesday, more than 40 McDonald’s restaurant managers from across the Lowcountry and the Coastal Empire will compete for an opportunity to win a new Ford Fiesta.
“In these trying economic times, it’s the least we can do for our employees who have been with us over the years,” said Gary Stanberry, McDonald’s owner/operator.
The event, sponsored by the Savannah McDonald’s Co-Op, will feature manager recognition, cash prizes and the car giveaway. Restaurant managers with records of excellent operations will be entered in the car raffle with an increased number of tickets.
“We look forward to saying ‘thank you’ to our hard-working employees,” Stanberry said.
The event will be held from 9-11 a.m. at the National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force, 175 Bourne Ave., in Pooler.
