JEB BUSH
New job title: Director of special events
Company: United Way of the Coastal Empire
Duties: Bush’s responsibilities include the creation and marketing of United Way’s signature events, including campaign kick-off, golf tournament, Turkey Trot and others.
Related work experience: Bush worked as an assistant program manager at Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace for six years where he developed, marketed and implemented special events and raised money through marketing and advertising sales.
Education: Bush holds a Master of Arts in history from Armstrong Atlantic State University and a Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of South Carolina.
MAGGIE SPRINGER
New job title: Director of development
Company: Humane Society for Greater Savannah
Duties: Springer’s responsibilities will include expanding and strengthening the organization’s sources of funding via major gifts, grants, business relationships, private donations and special events.
Related work experience: Springer was development director for a not-for-profit women’s health care facility in Key West, Fla. She has almost 30 years in fundraising and development in both the not-for-profit and political arenas, as well as hundreds of hours volunteering with animal welfare groups.
Education: Springer holds a bachelor’s degree from Cornell University.
TAYLOR GRIFFIN
New job title: Communi-cations associate
Company: Visit Savannah and the Savannah Chamber of Commerce
Duties: Griffin will assist with various public relations and marketing functions.
Related work experience: Griffin worked at The Tombras Group, a marketing agency in Knoxville, Tenn., and has more than three years experience in public relations.
Education: Griffin is a graduate of the University of Tennessee.
JONATHAN SYKES
New job title: Event coordinator
Duties: Sykes will work to develop new ways to grow the Sports Council and will handle day-to-day operations for events and sales.
Related work experience: Sykes interned twice with the Savannah Sports Council.
Education: Sykes earned his bachelor’s degree in sports management in May.
LEANDREA MIKELL
New job title: Communi-cations/PR associate
Company: Small Business Assistance Corporation
Duties: Mikell is responsible for expanding the organization’s online and community presence, developing and executing marketing plans and budgets and planning and executing all events for the SBAC.
Related work experience: Mikell interned in the communications department with Visit Savannah.
Education: Mikell earned a B.A. in mass communications with a concentration in public relations and advertising from Savannah State University.
SARAH TIPPINS
New job title: Media buyer
Company: Joselove-Filson Advertising
Duties: Tippins will oversee all aspects of media buying and assist in office administration and client services.
Related work experience: Prior to joining JFA, Tippins worked for Sea Island Acquisitions.
Education: Tippins earned a Bachelor of Arts in journalism while majoring in advertising from the University of Georgia.

Richmond Hill student honored
Georgia Southern University’s Callie Harkness has been recognized by the National Kitchen and Bath Association with an honorable mention in a student design competition for creating a living space for someone with mobility issues. Harkness is from Richmond Hill.
