Longtime Savannah insurance broker Charles B. “Chip” Compton Jr. has joined Seacrest Partners as a property-casualty insurance broker and chief operating officer, the company announced Friday.
In his new role with Seacrest, Compton will provide risk management and property-casualty services to middle market and large commercial clients throughout the region. He will also be an integral part of the executive leadership team focusing on client services and technical resources.
During his more than 30 years experience managing insurance programs for some of Savannah’s largest employers, Compton has developed specialized expertise in the hospitality, construction and manufacturing industry sectors and is recognized as an authority on the implementation of complex risk management strategies.
He most recently served as a senior vice president with Wells Fargo Insurance Services in Savannah where he was the senior broker and advisor to some of the area’s largest commercial clients. Prior to that, he was a founding partner and owner of a Savannah-based insurance brokerage firm for more than 17 years.
He began his insurance career in 1978 when he joined Savannah-based Palmer & Cay after graduating from the University of Georgia.

Compton served as chairman of Young Agents of Georgia early in his career and later went on to serve as president of the Independent Insurance Agents of Savannah and as a board member for the Independent Insurance Agents of Georgia.
He was selected to serve on advisory boards for two major insurance companies, CNA Insurance and Zurich Insurance, and eventually became chairman of both boards.
He currently serves as a board member with the Savannah Benevolent Association, is a member and past president of The Telfair Museum’s board of trustees, is chairman of Savannah Country Day School Board of Visitors and is past chairman of the board of trustees of Savannah Country Day School.
